Species and Hunting Methods
WILD BOAR (SUS SCROFA)
 

Introduced from Europe almost one hundred years ago, wild boar have multiplied and spread all over the wooded areas of La Pampa. Hunting of this species is done mostly from blinds at night, although they can atso be stalked on foot when there is a full moon. Wild boar hunting is allowed year round, but the best time is in the months of May and June, which is the breeding season. Pichu-Có has produced wild boar of up to 550 lbs. (250 kg) live weight with 10 ¡nch (26 cm) tusks.

 

FALLOW DEER (DAMA DAMA)
 

These have only recently been introduced in this area. They are hunted by daylight on foot or from blinds placed near watering holes and feeding places. Fallow deer hunting is allowed year round.

 

WATER BUFFALO (BUBALUS BUBALIS)
 

This species is a recent introduction. They are hunted during the day on foot or from blinds near the watering holes. Water buffalo hunting is allowed year round. We recommend a 375 H&H Mag. calibre or larger.

 

DOVES AND PIGEONS
 

Wingshooting is done on others farms near Pichu-có, half an hour´s drive away. The season is from January 1st through August 31st. Hunters average about 100 shots per hour. Birds are plentiful, especially ¡n the months of March, April and May. 12 or even 20 gauge shotguns with light cartridges are recommended.
